Planning & Zoning
Welcome to the Planning and Zoning Division. Planning and Zoning manages and implements the City’s General Plan, Local Coastal Plan, Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Ordinance, Landscape Design Guidelines, Flood and Seismic Hazard mapping, and California Environmental Quality Act. This Division processes various land use entitlements for public hearing by the City and provides design review, plan check, and field inspections for zoning, environmental, and other conditions of approval for new and existing development.
In addition, this Division processes a variety of administrative and ministerial permits ranging from signs and home occupations to liquor licenses and temporary events. The Division also administers the City’s census data, historic resources, and provides CC&R oversight to the City’s 31 Homeowners' Associations and 75 commercial, industrial, and residential planned unit developments.
ONLINE PERMITTING IS HERE! We are excited to announce the City of Port Hueneme is replacing its current permitting and business license software with the new OpenGov software system.
What this means for you - The advantages of the new system will be to: allow the public to apply for a variety of Planning, Building and Public Works permits, as well as business licenses, on-line; pay for the permits on-line; and check the status of their applications without the need to come into City Hall. The new system will also allow City staff to more seamlessly process these applications, resulting in faster processing times.
If you do not already have an account, we encourage you to set up an account with opengov.com, to be able to use the new program when it comes on-line. City staff will be available to assist you with any issues in submitting or checking your application.
Please click on the button below to access the Planning applications live now on our system.
