Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the City of Port Hueneme has implemented a no-fee Special Use Permit process to allow businesses to expand their outdoor dining options, queuing areas, etc.  Please refer to the Temporary Outdoor Dining Special Use Permit application and regulations here 

The Community Development Department is responsible for planning and zoning, building & safety, economic development and business assistance, code compliance and parking enforcement. It is also responsible for affordable housing programs.

Counter Services

City Hall Reception/Counter Services is an integral aspect of Community Development's Administration. Staff provides bilingual City Hall reception, counter services, and issuance of miscellaneous documents including:

  • Animal licenses
  • Beach/neighborhood parking passes
  • Bus passes
  • Garage sale permits
  • Vehicle releases

The Division serves as the ex-officio member to the Port Hueneme Chamber of Commerce and acts as primary liaison with the commercial Harbor District. Staff works to ensure that new construction and additions to existing structures meet the policies and guidelines that have been established for public safety, zoning and development.

    The City of Port Hueneme no longer issues group/block or large complex Yard Sale permits. Any resident who would like to have a sale would need to purchase an individual permit at City Hall prior to the sale.
