Southern California Edison would like to remind customers that safety around electricity is critically important. NEVER touch a power line, whether overhead or on the ground, and if you ever see a downed power line, please call 9-1-1.

CITY OF OXNARD "GREAT" PROGRAM RECYCLED WATER PIPELINE

Construction related to the City of Oxnard's GREAT Program is scheduled to begin in Port Hueneme in late October 2010. Traffic on Ventura Road / Port Hueneme Road will be affected for several months. UTILITY PAYMENT ASSISTANCE

The City of Port Hueneme offers “CityCARE,” a program for income-eligible residents to receive a discount off their water/sewer/refuse bill, based on Southern California Edison’s CARE program guidelines. Click here for more information

HALF CENT SALES TAX

Beginning April 1, 2009, a half-cent sales tax for the City of Port Hueneme took effect (now 8.75%). The State Board of Equalization has issued two Special Notices to educate the public and local retailers on the requirements for collection of this tax: Sales and Use Tax Rate Increases on April 1, 2009 and New Tax Rates to Take Effect on April 1, 2009. For questions, please contact Finance Director Robert Bravo at 986-6520.

RESOURCES FOR SMALL BUSINESSES

The City has developed a brochure for small businesses with information about community organizations that provide assistance in various forms. There are also tips on starting a business, including things you should check first with the City.


RECYCLE CFB's AND HOUSEHOLD BATTERIES

City of Port Hueneme residents now have the convenience of recycling their Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (“CFBs”) and household batteries at a number of local drop-off sites in the City, free of charge!

 


VC ALERT EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM

The Port Hueneme Police Department utilizes the Ventura County Emergency Operations Center's VC Alert Emergency Notification System to provide information in the event of an emergency. Click the logo above to register additional phone numbers for Port Hueneme addresses (for example, people who live or work in Port Hueneme may wish to receive VC Alert calls on their cell phones).
