The City of Port Hueneme recognizes that attractive, safe, and affordable housing in stable neighborhoods enhances the quality of life for its citizens and serves as a crucial building block of economic security for the community. To further the goal of neighborhood preservation, the City offers financial assistance through a variety of programs to assist with maintenance of owner-occupied housing, home purchases for first time buyers, and affordable rental housing.

Home Maintenance Incentive Rebate Program

The mission of the Home Maintenance Incentive Rebate Program (“HMIRP”) is to provide financial incentives in the form of cash grants to stimulate preservation of the housing stock in the City’s mature neighborhoods, to eradicate substandard housing conditions, and to eliminate and prevent slums and blighting influences, principally for the benefit of low and moderate income individuals and families. Residential Rehabilitation Loan Program

Home Buyer Assistance Program 

The City of Port Hueneme's Home Buyer Assistance Program ("HBAP") provides down payment assestance to qualified low-income, first time home buyers.  The financial assistance is in the form of a low interest, deferred-payment loan secured by a Deed of Trust.  Loan proceeds may only be used toward the purchase of a single-family home, condominium, or townhome located within Port Hueneme.  (Printable Document)
