| Police Reserves Officer Program Reserve Police Officers are civilians, empowered by the State of California as Peace Officers, who volunteer their time to support their local police agencies and communities. The Reserve Police Officer program is a great way to start a career in law enforcement. The Program offers its Reserve Police Officers opportunities to participate in all phases of law enforcement while assisting Police Officers in the performance of their duties. By doing so, the Reserve Police Officer gains invaluable experience, which enhances their opportunity to one day, become a full time Police Officer. The duties of Reserve Police Officers include assisting Patrol Officers and Detectives in investigating crimes, traffic accidents, traffic enforcement, and responding to a variety of calls, ranging from domestic disputes to medical emergencies. Reserve Police Officers are also involved in patrolling community related events ranging from the City’s annual Beach Festival to “National Night Out”, During the summer months, Reserve Police Officers are utilized, as paid Park Rangers, to patrol the Port Hueneme Beach. Duties consist of parking enforcement, assisting children in finding their lost parents, enforcing municipal violations such as drinking on the beach, and being available to assist officers in performing their normal duties. The Port Hueneme Police Department is always seeking qualified candidates for Reserve Officer.
