Explorers Program

The program is open to youths between the ages of 14-21. The program is associated with the Learning for Life, Boy Scouts of America. A youth can apply by filling out a City Application. The program allows the youths to see how the various divisions of the Police Department function and they get to ride along with Police Officers on patrol. They also help other law enforcement agencies with special projects and events. A detailed Program Overview is available for review.

If accepted into the program, the youth attends a Police Explorer Academy for three weeks, and is trained in various courses such as accident investigations, traffic control, crime scene investigations, and criminal law.
