Communications

The Communications Center is open to the public 24 hours a day. The Port Hueneme Police Department employs four full time, and two part-time Dispatchers, with one working per shift.

The Dispatchers serve the public at the front counter, receive all incoming 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls, monitor and dispatch all radio transmissions to the officers in the field. They receive approximately 250 calls per day and approximately a quarter of those result in a call for service. Additionally, the Communications Division serves as the Police Department’s Records Division. The full-time Dispatchers are Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) trained and two of the Dispatchers have received Tactical Dispatch Training.
