Senior Officer Bates began his career as a Reserve Police Officer for the Santa Paula Police Department from 1998 to 2000. He started as an Officer with the Port Hueneme Police Department in 2000. Since then he has served as a Patrol Officer, Detective, Field Training Officer, Taser Instructor, Neighborhood Watch advisor and is currently a K-9 handler with his partner, DON. Senior Officer Bates is assigned to Beat 1.

Senior Officer Bates is assigned to Beat One, which includes the following residential communities and commercial centers: Marina Village, Pacific Collection, Marlborough Seaside, Harbor Lights, Yankee Landing, Las Palomas, Sandpiper Village Olivera Plaza Center, Bolker Park. Mandalay Bay Center

After reviewing statistics for the month of July, I wanted to share what has been going on in Beat 1.

0 Robberies compared to 0 last month.
1 Residential Burglary compared to 4 last month.
2 Commercial Burglaries compared to 2 last month.
2 Auto Burglary compared to 1 last month.
2 Assaults compared to 4 last month.
1 Petty Theft compared to 6 last month.
1 Act of Grand Theft compared to 0 last month.
0 Stolen Vehicles compared to 0 last month.
2 Acts of Vandalism

Crime Update: During this month we had (10) arrests in our Beat 1. Burglaries have been a constant problem! We had two more Laundry Room burglaries, one from a Laundry Room in the 2500 block of Rudder and the other in the 2500 block of Sextant. Numerous bicycles have been taken from both from open garages and in cases where bikes have been left out unsecured. The vehicle burglaries have been a result of window smashes to gain property left in plain view.
