Senior Officer: Baltazar Tapia Beat Coordinator: Beat 1 E-Mail: BTapia@ci.port-hueneme.ca.us Senior Officer Baltazar Tapia began his carrer as a reserve officer for the Port Hueneme Police Department from 1997 to 1998. He has been a police officer in the State of California since 1998. Since then his assignments have included investigations in homicide, crimes against person, sexual abuse, gang, narcotics, identity theft and property crimes among others. Senior Officer Tapia was also involved as a Special Problems unit member for several years as well as being part of the Port Hueneme Police Department rifle team. Senior Officer Bates is assigned to Beat One, which includes the following residential communities and commercial centers: Marina Village, Pacific Collection, Marlborough Seaside, Harbor Lights, Yankee Landing, Las Palomas, Sandpiper Village Olivera Plaza Center, Bolker Park. Mandalay Bay Center Message from your Beat 1 Coordinator After reviewing statistics for the month of December, I wanted to share what has been going on in Beat 1. Crime Update: This is the busiest area of the city, primarily due to Marina Village and the shopping centers. The total offenses in this beat include: 7 arrests, 2 battery, 4 theft from vehicle, 3 domestic violence reports, 3 garage burglaries, 3 vandalism (Graffiti) and 5 thefts (primarily shoplifting). During this time period, one critical incident occurred at Crossjack and Sextant on December 12, 2010 at 8:15 PM. Shots were fired into a vehicle. The suspect is described as male, 5-11 wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. On December 14, 2010 4:00 AM officers responded to a vehicle burglary in progress in the 2600 block of Tiller Ave. Officers are conducting foot patrols in the early morning hours.
